The intensive 5 day broiler disease training program was hosted by the University, bringing together 35 participants from 7 countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, China and Taiwan) and 10 international speakers.

We were honored to have Prof Dr Mohd. Hair Bejo, Deputy Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM who made a great contribution by lecturing the participants about Infection Bursal Disease and Adenovirus in broilers. In his presentation, he highlighted many eye opening points in tackling these fearful diseases in the farm. The Malaysian participants were delighted by the tips given as Prof Hair is familiar with the local situation in the country. Overall, it was a beneficial sessions from other experts as well for our Malaysian participants. They would like to be invited to attend Ceva University training again in the future.

This Continuing Professional Development course was specifically designed for veterinarians who work in broiler operations. In line with Ceva’s vision “Together, beyond animal health”, which promotes the idea of developing partnerships to achieve better global health, there was a range of comprehensive set of program on disease of poultry, serology result interpretation, practical with post-mortem and case studies of different diseases cases. Some of the highlights are latest updates and situation of AI and ND in Asia, lectures in Avian Immunology, Immunosuppressive diseases (IBD, Adenovirus, CAV, Reo, Mareks), Bacteria diseases (Salmonella, E.Coli, CRD), Respiratory diseases (MG, IB) and others (Coccidiosis, MS, RSS, Mycotoxin). Ceva’s aim was not only to hold a technical training course but to create friendships between professionals across Asia.

This 5 day intensive training by the experience speakers as well as sharing with other participants was indeed a success and beneficial event. We have positive feedbacks from the participants who claimed that they are now more equipped with knowledge and technical skill in the field.
