Layer Tour 2013

The very first Layer Tour 2013 was co-organized by Ceva Animal Health Malaysia and Agritech Enterprise at Equatorial Hotel, Melaka on 5th June 2013.

The very first Layer Tour 2013 was co-organized by Ceva Animal Health Malaysia and Agritech Enterprise at Equatorial Hotel, Melaka on 5th June 2013 with the title Melaka is not only a historical city that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7th July 2008, it is also a major layer production state with significant contribution of egg exportation to Singapore.

The seminar received an overwhelming response from the layer producers in Melaka and Johor. It kicked off with topic on “Practical Measures to Maximize Eggs Production in Modern Layer Farms’ byDr Roberto Soares, Regional Technical Manager of Ceva Animal Health Asia Pacific. He explained in details the most important management issues in each stages of production, from 1-5 weeks of rearing management, 6 weeks to transfer, pre-laying and laying period that will affects the egg performance. In addition, he stressed on some diseases that can adversely affect the laying performance.

‘Perfect Match’ and ‘EGGS Program’ are peculiar words to most of the layer farmers before this seminar. Both terms and terminology were well explained and interpreted in second presentation. ‘Perfect Match’ is a combination of two new technology vector vaccines, Vectormune®  ND and Vectormune® FP-MG, that effectively protect and prevent layer farm from poor performance due to Newcastle Disease (NDV) andMycoplasma gallisepticum(MG) infection respectively. Dr Jessica Lee, Product and Technical Manager of Ceva Animal Health Malaysia shared several successful field experiences on ‘Perfect Match’ results. A layer farm that tried Perfect Match had gained EXTRA 33 eggs hen-housed comparing to the control houses. She took the opportunity to introduce EGGS Program, Ceva’s Pullet Vaccination Services Platform which aims to help producers in achieving better immunized flock with better body weight and uniformity. With the unique design of DesvacIMVac machine and DesvacWingVac Injector, Ceva hopes to helps layer farms in improving quality of intramuscular and wing web vaccination. Together with vaccines, machines and services, Cevawould like to offer this holistic approach to improve overall production results.

This event was wrapped up by Dr Amanda Lim, Area Manager of Ceva Animal Health Asia Pacific. She thanked all the participants for their active participation and invited producers to work together with Cevain trying out ‘Perfect Match’ and ‘EGGS Program’ that maximize their production. Seminar ended with a memorable moment with a group photo taken.
